I was told at collage it's ok to have a "fanny" in the corners? 😅
What is the projection measurnent!!!!!!!??? Hahahaha. Otherwise, your video is a waste of time
Very informative, staring at someone’s skirting boards, thank god the lock down is here
Could you advise what screws should be used? Struggling to get cornice to hold - screwing in to plasterboard ceiling and masonry walls. Thanks
Pin nails work well.
I used pin nails in solid plaster along the chalk lines (ceiling and drop lines) and they worked a treat. As far as fixing if you use something like herculite coving adhesive you'll need a crowbar to remove it but a standard fine tipped screw will likely dig in enough to give you a hold while it sets. I had a slightly protruding wall and although the coving creaked once with screws I got it to hold the 2mm bending.....no cracks but I would suggest digging out the wall to keep the wall even rather than being a chancer like me.
Hi there The saw needs to be straight? Or angle? Can you please respond me ASAP Thank you
Don't go into teaching will ya! What is the projection? What is the correct height? Really!
David Smith what a stupid question to ask the projection is the measurement that the coving projects out, the correct height is the depth of the coving Really??
@@gowen8128 Wanker...
@@gowen8128😊 Clear as mud, even the joint is crap. Look at the top joint, really!
When you say "then it's ready for decorating" - how do you recommend decorating these?
Hi Mike, any household paint is fine :)
mate your a legend... followed what you said and it went up perfect. cheers.... John
thanks for this life saving video. i'm now at the bay which is 22.5 degree so do i half the projection to do this cut ?
Hi John. In the perfect world that would be the way to cut the mitres but I find most bays are not that precise. The best way is to mark the projection of the cornice on the ceiling all the way around the bay. This will give you the intersections of the top of the mitres. Then working from left to right offer the first piece up and mark the intersection on the cornice. For example if you are going from an external mitre to an obtuse internal mitre cut your external, add the measure of the wall to the bottom edge and do a straight cut. You can then offer it in place and Mark the obtuse internal intersection. This can then be cut. Before you fix this in place cut the next piece with two straight cuts and Mark the intersections. Working this way means you always need to Mark the next piece before fixing the current one in place but it will give you the perfect mitre. Hope that makes sense
Please what is the Projection. Is it the size of the piece that projects from the ceiling outwards.
Good job.
Hi Sir. Can i use same method to install the rose onto concrete ceiling?
What adhesive did you used ?
Hi lads, thanks so much for the great instruction ! We also liked the rose you used as a demo. May we ask - where did you get it as I cant find one close online at all. Cheers.
Hi Robert, abit late but the ceiling rose is from our website: www.plasterceilingroses.com and are sent out next day delivery. Thanks, Jamie
and the projection measurement is?
Maggie Lim did you really ask that question 🙄
Brilliant! Love your coving tips videos too
How would you cut the external mitre if you are on your own?
Hi Kilo If I was on my own I'd use a mitrebox
very clear useful instructions.
excellent job thumbs up and subscribed :)
Hi, how much do people charge to fit these for customers? :)
+ThePolechick The honest answer is it varies according to whether you call someone in just to fit this, or whether they are doing other work for you at the same time, where you are in the country etc. The best thing to do is call three local builder/decorators/plasterers and get quotes for fitting.
+Plaster Ceiling Roses - Aw ok, thank you, I have coving to go up too so good idea, I guess checkatrade is a good place to start :)
+ThePolechick If you order your coving and ceiling roses from us at www.plasterceilingroses.com we could recommend a fitter in your area. :)
+Plaster Ceiling Roses - Oh, I ordered the coving weeks ago & there was a mix up so now they've refunded me a huge amount but I'm waiting for it to arrive, I'll look at the ceiling roses though :)
Hi Bob. We left that scene in deliberately so people can see a mitre doesn't have to be absolutely perfect. That little chip will disappear during the filling stage; it is easier and cheaper to fill than to recut the piece. Thanks for the feedback though, much appreciated :)
top corner looks rough ;)
